Leonardo is a Pink Lemonade × Hoffmanii plant originally from Fontanimal Plant House. I selected this plant during a live sale in 2024 because the closed-sinus structure caught my attention.
JPG.1 is the Scott Cohen pre-numbered 2021 Carlablackiae selection used throughout my breeding work.
The reason for this pairing is the structure. Leonardo gives me that unusually closed sinus and compact geometry, while JPG.1 gives me darker velvet and a more established Carla framework behind it.
The closed sinus is a parent trait I’m watching for, not a guarantee in every seedling.
This is a shape project for me first. I’m watching whether the closed-sinus influence survives as the seedlings size up, because mature structure matters more than a juvenile hint.

I select from the available batch at shipping time, starting with the strongest, healthiest material and the best expression of the traits I’m watching for at that stage. If one is showing out and makes me stop and say, “Sheesh,” that is usually the one I’m reaching for.
