About This Cross
This pairing is all about silhouette, contrast, and refined drama.
The mother plant, Leonardo, is named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for its unmistakable closed sinus, shell like appearance. Closed sinus expression is rare in both Pink Lemonade and Hoffmanii, making this plant an outlier even before breeding enters the picture. The result is a compact but commanding form with clean lines, tight geometry, and a controlled, almost armored look.
Leonardo (Pink Lemonade × Hoffmanii)
Brings elegance and discipline. Expect tight closed sinuses, refined ridging, compact structure, and a soft emergent glow that reads subtle rather than flashy. This parent prioritizes shape and symmetry over size, making every leaf feel intentional.
Carlablackiae JPG.1
A cornerstone clone in my program. JPG.1 is a Scott’s Carla clone from 2021, selected for nearly black emergents and a highly distinctive midvein that starts green and transitions into a tan gold tone as the leaf matures. This color shifting midrib is a rare visual trait that adds depth and motion across every stage of growth.
Together, this cross produces seedlings with dense velvet, striking sinus architecture, and emergent color play that evolves rather than explodes.
