The Pink Seed Trial

Hold on. Why are some of these pink?

A batch of Anthurium seeds, and some of them are showing pink/red color alongside the cream-colored seeds. Well… now I’m paying attention.

It’s a small thing. But that’s how this stuff starts. Something catches your eye, then you want to know whether it’s going anywhere.

The seeds were harvested yesterday. This is the beginning of the record, while the question is still open.

I want to see what follows.

Does the visible difference stay with them? Does anything different show up as they germinate and put out their first leaves? Or do they all get on with being seedlings and leave me here with a photo of some pink seeds? 😂

Either way, I want to follow it. The color is the observation. What it means is still a question.

I haven’t established that it’s inherited, or that it predicts variegation, leaf color, or how a plant will grow. A pink seed isn’t a promise.

Where I’m at with it.

I’m working out how to keep track of the seeds so the starting photo and the later plants can be connected properly. The group counts, growing setup, and tracking method aren’t documented here yet.

As that comes together, I’ll add the setup and dated updates to this same entry. Photos, changes, things that surprise me—and anything that makes me rethink the original question. The first note stays here so you can follow it from the beginning.
